Courses for Cogges Manor Farm

Cogges Manor Farm dates back to the Domesday times, and features the loveliest manor house surrounded by pastures and a walled kitchen garden. Entrance to the entire farm is included in your course fee, so that you can see the sheep, goats, pigs etc after we’ve finished.

The staff and volunteers at Cogges all have animal welfare very much at heart, and have asked me to teach my beginner chicken keeping course at their gorgeous venue. The courses will be held mostly indoors - in the manor house - and the room we use is accessible via a narrow and steep staircase, so isn’t suitable for those less able amongst us. The practical part of the course will be held outside, so make sure that you wear layers and appropriate footwear as the stone floor of that area is uneven in places.

Beginner's Chicken Keeping Course: an ideal course for those who are thinking about, or have just got their first chickens. Rammed full of advice, information and hands-on practical work, this course is designed to give you confidence in handling your birds, able to do a full health check on them and know what to look for when buying your chickens and coop. The Beginner’s course takes roughly 2-2.5 hours, so we only recommend them to children over the age of 10 years

Once you have booked onto your course, you will receive an email from me with your joining instructions. There will be one further email just prior to your course.

New 2022 course dates will be announced shortly
